Research Project Roles
Project Leader
- Should be the most knowledgable in the group about the project topic.
- Responsible for project planning (defining tasks
and scheduling them), task assignment, task monitoring (recording weekly
progress), updating the on-line project description and progress.
- Project leaders are expected to be contributing members.
Contributing Member
- Expected to expend time, thought, and energy to
solve, complete, and check-in solutions to project-related tasks.
- Assist with project planning and group discussion when appropriate.
Project Consultant
- Provides valuable ideas and/or insight into how solve specific
challenges within the project as they arise.
- Project Consultants may not expend much time and energy towards
project tasks. Their role is primarily advisory.
Task Consultant
- Acts as a consultant for a single project task. A Task Consultant
may actually expend time, thought, and energy towards this single task.
Observer
- Participates in meetings, discussions, and planning
related to the project.
- Primarily for the educational benefit or interest of the Observer.
- Observers get no accomplishment credit for this role, but
may be a Task Consultant.
